The transition wasn’t hard. Training for sprinting was extremely intense and demanding whereas weight training does not hit the heart as hard. Gym training is still hard but one has to be careful at what intensity to train and when in order to preserve muscle.
During the years I practiced athletics I often had to train in adverse weather conditions since we had no indoor facilities for this. Furthermore my sessions had a fixed starting time since I used to have a coach whereas nowadays the timing of my sessions are more flexible. Having said all this I am very proud of my past in athletics as it built me into a disciplined and resilient person which comes in very handy in my new sport.
