It’s been a hot summer so far in Toronto. So what could be a better way to cool down then with an ice cold, tasty popsicle? Oh I know! Ice cold, tasty, healthy popsicles.
Enter the Mirror Friendly Popsicles…
No artificial flavours, colours and sugar here! Just all natural goodness. And the best part is, all you need are two ingredients, a blender, popsicle moulds and a freezer.
The following ingredients were used to make 6 popsicles:
– 1 cup non-fat Greek plain yogurt
– 3/4 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
– 1 scoop protein powder (optional)
Step by step instructions in preparing the Mirror Friendly popsicles:
1) Mix ingredients together in a blender and blend until smooth
2) Pour the mixture into your popsicle moulds
3) Freeze until solid… Enjoy!
If you want a bit of extra sweetness, just add some honey to get the desired taste. I didn’t. I felt the strawberries were sweet enough on their own. Also, you can make this recipe with any other fruit you like. For example I’ve also tried it with blueberries… it was delicious!
The nutritional values for 1 Mirror Friendly popsicle is as follows:
Calories: 96 kcal
Protein: 8g
Carbohydrates: 16g
of which fibre: 4g
of which sugar: 9g (this is natural sugar from lactose and strawberries)
Fats: 0g
Note: The above values relate to 1 popsicle when you opt to include the protein powder scoop. Without the latter you would have 4g of protein rather than 8g with total calories going down to 80.
