With summer soon with us you will probably be looking at dropping a few layers of fat from your sexy body. With this in mind you will inevitably need to gradually start lowering your calorie intake, with particular attention to your total carbohydrate consumption.
Now assuming your nutrition is already clean from sugar, alcohol and other junk food, knocking off the last few levels of stubborn body fat to achieve a top physique (with very low body fat levels) will require thatyou zoom in on your nutrition in further detail, including which vegetables you consume.
The photo below represents the 10 lowest (net) carb vegetables (net carbs refers to digestable carbs, that is total carbs less fibre content). These vegetables happen to all grow above ground, with other vegetables growing below ground e.g. carrots, beetroot and sweet potato, being typically higher in carb content.
The net carb content of the below vegetables per 100g is as follows:
Cauliflower – 4 g
Cabbage – 3 g
Avocado – 2 g
Broccoli – 4 g
Zucchini – 3 g
Spinach – 1 g
Asparagus – 2 g
Kale – 4 g
Green beans – 4 g
Brussels sprouts – 5 g
Note: Even though avocado is low in carb, it is high in healthy fats, which means that it can also be considered as your source of choice for healthy fats.
It is important to note that the above in no way means that the other vegetables are not healthy, rather the ones below are ideal if you’re trying to strictly watch your calories and carb intake. Having said so, we would also like to stress that you should never completely eliminate carbs from your diet because they are the preferred source of energy for your body during exercise.
To fitness with love,
Martina
